Cooabriel's warehouse complex obtains Smeta Certification, one of the most recognized on the international market
After passing the audit phases, one of Cooabriel's storage units is now Smeta certified. The cooperative is now part of a select group of companies and has been recognized as a socially responsible supplier, meeting the pre-requisites for certification by one of the world's most widely used social audits.
The certification covers the warehouse complex located in São Gabriel da Palha/ES. The modality in which the cooperative obtained certification is called "4 Pillars", which assesses compliance with precepts related to labor standards, health and safety, business ethics and the environment.
The SMETA audit (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) is a procedure created by Sedex, a global non-profit organization based in London, which focuses on ethics in trade. The organization has an extensive information-sharing system, with the aim of enabling certified organizations to prove that their business practices are ethically and socially responsible.
Cooabriel's export and sustainability manager, Renata Vaz, explains that this type of audit is aimed at the supply chain and that, because it is recognized worldwide, it brings numerous benefits.
"Having a storage unit within the standards accepted by the Smeta Audit means that we are complying with all the prerequisites of commercial ethics, health and safety, labor standards and environmental factors, which are exactly the pillars demanded by international markets. This shows that the cooperative has been pursuing a process of continuous improvement and that its commitment to the market is ever greater," says Renata.
Given the advent of sustainability concepts and the growing demand for ethical, transparent and socially acceptable practices, obtaining Smeta Certification meets these prerequisites.
In this sense, according to Cooabriel's president, Luiz Carlos Bastianello, "receiving certification from a globally recognized audit can facilitate the establishment of partnerships and commercial negotiations, especially when it comes to companies that operate abroad," Bastianello says.
These aspects can make a significant contribution to conquering new markets and export activities, according to Renata Vaz. "Being audited contributes to the plan to open and maintain international markets, which Cooabriel started in 2020," Renata concludes.
